RF 100-500 Lens with 1.4 or 2X Extender. 12-03-2022 10:51 AM. Wondering to get either a 1.4 or a 2X extender with the Rf 100-500 lens. Two concerns, one is a lot of wildlife photography is in lower lighting conditions and the 2X drops it to 11/14. Also, was surprised to see that the extender only works 300-500mm (not 1-299mm). Can anyone confirm if the Sigma 15-600 contemporary will attach and function with the Canon 2x iii attached? Thanks a million. Andy. I have tried this setup before. I want to say its f/11 and manual focus only. On a tripod the results were usable with a 5Dmk4 body. In reply to Emile15 • Mar 17, 2021. Prior to getting the R5 and RF 100-500, my birding combo was 5D IV and Sigma 150-600C. My decision to change the lens (camera body is a separate story), was mainly due to the overall weight and the extra awkward length added by the adapter. I was very happy with the IQ yielded by the Sigma 150-600C, so
