Although Sandisk Extreme Pro advertised its speed - you will need compatible hardware to get that (per Sandisk's small print). If really want the speed - try Thunderbolt 3 SSD.

First, connect the SSD to your Mac using the SATA to USB cable. 1) Open the Utilities folder on your Mac. 2) Open Disk Utility. 3) Click on the SSD icon. Click the Erase button. Format should be APFS for macOS 10.14 “Mojave” or newer, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) otherwise. Scheme should be GUID Parition Map.
